What is your "why"? What drives you to do this important work each day?

My students are the heart of why I love doing this work. Watching them put in the effort, collaborate, and showcase Black Excellence every day fills me with pride. I find joy in helping them recognize their own value and potential.

What do you enjoy most about your role?

Getting to interact with my students every day. I love getting to know more about them, seeing their growth, and getting to hear about all the little things going on in their lives. Being a part of seeing them be kids that have fun with each other and support each other, is the best feeling.

What would you most like families to know about the role of Student Support Workers in HRCE schools?

I want families to know this program is not about dividing their kids and separating them from their other peers. This program is about bringing students and families together and to have a place where Black students and their families can feel supported and have a support system within the school. I am just here to advocate for the well-being of my students and make sure they know there is someone in the school who will always have their back.
